A fun and empowering day program for people with disability to connect, learn, and thrive
The LifeAbility Hub is not just a place to spend the day, it’s a space for growth and connection. Our program encourages active participation, choice, and independence while meeting the needs of each individual. Whether it’s through hands-on activities, socialising with peers, or learning new skills, LifeAbility Hub promotes both personal development and community engagement in a fun and supportive environment.
Our highly skilled staff are dedicated to ensuring that each participant has the support they need to succeed. From assisting with daily living skills to fostering social interactions, we’re here to ensure every individual has an enjoyable and fulfilling experience.
Empowering people with disability through skill-building and social inclusion
At LifeAbility Hub, we focus on more than just everyday tasks; we aim to help you or your loved one build essential life skills and become more independent. Our skill-building program includes a variety of activities designed to foster personal growth, boost confidence, and encourage active participation in the community.
Through a range of hands-on activities, such as cooking, gardening, and social outings, we provide opportunities to develop practical life skills. Cooking teaches self-sufficiency and responsibility, budgeting, and life skills, while gardening offers a chance to learn about sustainability and nurturing plants. Social outings and recreational activities enhance communication skills, teamwork, and the ability to navigate different social settings. These experiences not only promote independence but also allow you or your loved one to explore new environments, forge meaningful connections, and enjoy the benefits of social inclusion and general health and wellbeing. With each activity, confidence grows, and participants are empowered to thrive in ways that are meaningful to them.

A unique space that fosters independence and growth
What truly sets LifeAbility Hub apart is our space. It’s designed to provide a dynamic environment that nurtures independence, social interaction, and personal development. Each area within the hub has been thoughtfully crafted to meet the varied needs our participants, ensuring they can engage in activities that enhance daily life.

Our open and flexible spaces are designed to support a variety of activities that cater to different interests and learning styles. In the kitchen, participants can develop practical skills and gain a sense of accomplishment through cooking, which also helps build greater independence. The living areas provide a calm environment where participants can relax, socialise, and feel part of a supportive community, fostering emotional well-being. Outside, the garden offers an opportunity to connect with nature, promoting relaxation and grounding.
In our creative space, participants can explore their artistic side through music, painting, and other forms of expression. Whether it's playing an instrument, creating a painting, or trying out new crafts, this space encourages imagination and creativity while building confidence. We also have a dedicated "tech spot" with computers, where participants can develop digital skills and explore technology in a supportive setting.
Each of these areas plays an important role in helping you or your loved one gain confidence, independence, and a sense of accomplishment. The diversity of our spaces allows for a balanced experience, nurturing growth in all areas of life.
LifeAbility Hub is a space where every individual can truly grow.
An accessible and inclusive space
LifeAbility Hub is designed to be a welcoming and accessible environment where every participant can feel comfortable and supported. Our entire space is fully wheelchair accessible, with a portable ramp available to ensure easy access throughout the centre.
To support a range of needs, we have a sensory room, offering a quiet and calming space for those who benefit from sensory-friendly environments. Our facilities also include:
A bathroom with a hoist, change table, and toilet, designed for participants who require additional support.
A separate bathroom with a shower and toilet, providing convenience and accessibility for all.
Experienced and dedicated team
With over 30 years in the disability space, LifeAbility Hub is supported by a dedicated team, many of whom have been here for between 7 to nearly 20 years. Their experience and long-standing relationships with participants create a stable, supportive environment where individuals feel valued and understood. Some participants have been with us for the full 30 years, reflecting the strong connections and trust built over time.

Testimonial
“My son, Nick, has been on the disability program for 31 years. At a young age, he was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, which affected his ability to talk, walk, and learn. I knew that it would require a great deal of dedication, effort and perseverance to ensure that he would have a comfortable life. I met the team at Community First Step in 1993, and the weight was lifted off my shoulders, knowing that there were people that would be able to help Nick each day. The program had specialised therapies that helped my son grow. Being with people with similar abilities, he was able to foster a sense of belonging with community outings, social events and peer support groups. Today, I’m proud to say he is thriving. Thank you to all the staff at Community First Step for their incredible work and support, especially the support workers.” - Angela, Mother of Nick (LifeAbility Hub participant)
